Discuss use and property goals
We learn how you want to use the deck, where people will enter, and which property concerns should shape the plan.
We plan and build decks around your property's layout, access, and intended use. Our design-build team coordinates the project from early concepts through final handover.
A coordinated layout gives outdoor seating, stairs, and building access a clear relationship.
A properly scoped frame supports the selected surface and the way people will use the space.
One project plan keeps design choices, construction tasks, and final handover connected.
Deck construction is a building service that creates an outdoor platform with a foundation, frame, walking surface, stairs, and protective rails.

We start with how you want to use the deck. Dining, quiet seating, outdoor cooking, and business access can call for different layouts and circulation paths. The scope may include foundation work, posts, beams, joists, decking, stairs, railings, and trim. We also review how the deck meets doors, walls, and nearby grade so the plan fits the property instead of forcing a fixed design. Material choice affects upkeep, appearance, and installation details. Wood and composite decking have different fastening, edge, and cleaning needs, so the right choice depends on your goals and the planned frame. Our main advice is to settle the layout before choosing surface boards. A good board material cannot fix poor stair placement, awkward door access, or an undersized frame.
We learn how you want to use the deck, where people will enter, and which property concerns should shape the plan.
We examine the proposed location, building connection, grade, work access, and nearby features that affect construction.
We develop the deck arrangement, surface direction, stairs, railings, and related work so the requested scope is clear.
Our project management connects the planned work, material decisions, site activity, and communication through the build.
We review the deck surface, frame, stairs, railings, and handover details before the project is complete.
“Guardrail (guards): We require guardrails if your deck is more than 30 inches above adjacent surfaces, such as the ground or a lower roof.”

A few clear decisions help us understand the deck you want and the property it must fit.
We document the deck layout, material choices, access points, and handover details from concept through completion.
We check the deck frame, surface alignment, stairs, railings, and building connection as construction moves forward.
We keep active project volume focused so deck details receive careful review during planning and construction.
Overall I enjoyed working with Linda and her team. Even though there were no major redesign of spaces and I knew exactly what tile/fixtures/cabinets etc I wanted I still was appreciative of her insight on certain details and choices. It was very easy to collaborate with her. She makes an effort to be in-tune with a client. She was very responsive and took care of everything that needed attention as soon as she was able too. She made sure that I was listened to and taken care of as a client with her subcontractors. I would work with her again.
Best remodel experience we have ever had. The oversight, careful workmanship and ownership of the project was above expectations. Our design team was amazing. We also had the same person do all the work start to finish and was a total Pro. Could not recommend enough and will be doing any and all projects through them. This place is a gem.
Linda and her team did an excellent job! We would highly recommend them. We hired her for a kitchen remodel and asked for a very tight timeline. She delivered and we absolutely love the result. She was very commutative and available to us. Thank you Design and Build NW!
Photos, rough measurements, property plans, access concerns, and your intended use help us scope the deck.
These details help connect the layout to the actual property.

A deck may look large enough on paper but still create tight paths at the door. The layout must leave room for entry, seating, stairs, and safe movement around the building. We review those paths with you before the scope is set. Bring photos, rough measurements, and your main use for the space so the first discussion starts with real constraints.
A deck that shifts, sags, or has loose rails needs a structural look before anyone chooses new boards. The surface may hide movement in posts, beams, joists, or the building connection. We trace the problem and explain whether a rebuild or focused repair fits the condition. Keep the area clear enough for us to see the frame and access points.
A commercial property may need outdoor access without losing normal customer or staff movement. The plan must account for circulation, work access, surface use, and the parts of the property that stay active. We discuss those limits before construction planning begins. Property owners and managers should identify busy areas, delivery paths, and required operating access.
